In 1987, Teixeira Duarte transformed the company into a public limited company, with a substantial increase in capital and a change of name to the current "Teixeira Duarte - Engenharia e Construções, S.A.". The company's capital was also opened to employees and a new internal organisation was introduced through the creation of Operation Centres and Central Divisions.

Teixeira Duarte - Engenharia e Construções, S.A." was the top company of the Teixeira Duarte Group until 2010, when, under a corporate reorganisation, "Teixeira Duarte, S.A." was formed, allowing the company to focus on its core business of construction.

Also in 1987, the start of construction of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos head office building in Lisbon, a large and technically complex project in which Teixeira Duarte participated in three phases during the various years of its execution.

Teixeira Duarte was the leader of the consortium signed with the Spanish company Huarte, S.A. for the construction of the International Bridge over the Guadiana River.
