Sustainable Development Goals
An ambitious action plan to
transform our world by 2030
Teixeira Duarte adopted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a global framework to shape, drive and report the actions and targets of its subsidiaries in the field of Sustainable Development, as it identified great affinities between its corporate vision of Sustainability and these Goals.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were established at a UN Summit in 2015 and unanimously approved by 193 Member States, with the aim of creating an ambitious agenda to eradicate poverty and promote economic, social and environmental development globally by 2030. Delivering on this plan, known as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, requires an unprecedented joint effort on a global scale, by all countries and stakeholders, both public and private.
In its approach to the SDG framework, the Teixeira Duarte Group carried out an assessment of the impacts, risks and opportunities of each business, considering their respective geographic contexts and their performance within the Group’s economic structure.
This analysis, carried out in accordance with the double materiality methodology advocated by the ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards), provided a robust, systematic and quantified view of the Group’s impacts, risks and opportunities, while simultaneously considering:
• Impact materiality (activities’ actual and potential impacts on society, the environment and the economy); and
• Financial materiality (significant effects on the Group’s performance, economic flows and resilience).
Accordingly, although all SDGs are interconnected, Teixeira Duarte has identified as priorities the five SDGs that, considering its businesses, entail the most significant impacts and the highest economic and regulatory materiality for the Group.
