Teixeira Duarte Honoured as Part of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of Angola’s Independence

On the occasion of the celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, Angola is holding a series of investiture ceremonies to honour individuals and institutions whose actions throughout the country’s historical journey have left a lasting legacy of dedication and service to Angola. His Excellency João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, President of the Republic of Angola, presides over these ceremonies, presenting each honouree with the Commemorative Medal of the 50 Years of Independence.
As a way of recognising the commitment and contribution of the Teixeira Duarte Group to the country’s socio-economic development over these 50 years, Manuel Maria Teixeira Duarte, Chairman of Teixeira Duarte, was distinguished with the Peace and Development class medal, at a ceremony held on 30 September.
In response to the tribute, Manuel Maria Teixeira Duarte shared a special message with employees: ‘I feel deeply honoured by this distinction, which I accept on behalf of all those who, over the past 50 years, have walked alongside Teixeira Duarte in Angola. This medal is a symbol of the emotional and historical bond that unites Teixeira Duarte with the country and its people. It is a recognition of our People, of the impact and quality of their achievements. It represents the appreciation of a collective journey, made of dedication and an unwavering commitment to the development of Angola.’
The Commemorative Medal of the 50 Years of National Independence carries a unique symbolism. Its three classes reflect the pillars of the nation: Honour (for leaders and statesmen), Independence (for those who fought for liberation), and Peace and Development (for the builders of modern Angola).
The formal ceremonies to bestow the medals are being held throughout 2025, ensuring that no effort is forgotten.
Teixeira Duarte’s operations in Angola began in 1976 in the Construction area. Taking advantage of diverse business opportunities, it expanded into Concessions and Services, Real Estate, Hospitality, Retail and Automotive. Today, Teixeira Duarte’s group of companies in Angola has 3,200 employees and includes several several renowned brands in their respective sectors.
