Colombo Project Featured in “Expresso” Newspaper

“Colombo’s new offices are being built from the top down” is the headline of the article published this week in Expresso's newspaper, following a recent interview conducted by the weekly publication with the Client and the Project Director, our colleague André Santiago Neves.
This project stands out for its high level of technical complexity and for the absolutely unique context in which it is being carried out. It involves a new large-scale tower suspended from steel arches above a major shopping centre that remains fully operational, within a highly sensitive urban environment — an unprecedented challenge.
The project is being delivered by a consortium led by Teixeira Duarte, responsible for overall planning, technical coordination, and the implementation of working methodologies and systems throughout all phases of the structural works.
From a construction perspective, the project incorporates a set of complex technical solutions that reflect its innovative character. Particular highlights include the execution methodology for micropiles, tailored to the existing structural constraints, and the use of climbing formwork erected above the shopping centre. All project preparation was supported by BIM methodology, enabling coordination with existing structures and a high level of precision, while optimising processes and minimising resource use.
Regarding Teixeira Duarte’s performance on this project, André Santiago Neves notes:
“From a broader analysis of our company’s overall involvement in this project, we believe it clearly leaves behind a legacy that should be regarded as a case study for the construction sector in Portugal. This project, which we developed and of which we are proud, allowed us to surpass ourselves at every stage of its development and to understand that, by focusing on the diversity of expertise across our various departments, we are able to respond effectively to the most demanding challenges. This project shows us that there are no impossibilities. It is the perfect project to reinforce confidence in national engineering and construction, and we believe we are more than prepared to respond to highly demanding challenges.”
