Teixeira Duarte awarded
1st prize in the“BIM Excellence Awards – 2017 Edition
Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A. has been awarded a 1st prize in the “Construction and Coordination” category of this year’s “BIM (Building Information Modelling) Excellence Award)”, at a ceremony held during the Forum of the Portuguese Construction Technological Platform (PTPC) on 19 October in Lisbon.
Organised by the Portuguese BIM Technical Committee (CT 197 – BIM), the entity qualified by the Portuguese Quality Institute (IPQ) responsible for the standardization of Building Information Modelling and for its implementation in Portugal, the “BIM Excellence Award” was created with the aim of publicising and promoting best BIM implementation practices nationwide.
The awarded was presented for the BIM project developed by a multidisciplinary team led by Teixeira Duarte’s Project Department for the “Hospital da Luz – Oeiras Clinic”, which developed it in active partnership with the project, with a particular focus on detecting errors and omissions and anticipating incompatibilities. The project lasted for 4 months and ended in February 2017.
BIM is an innovative approach to the planning, dimensioning, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings in the field of architecture, engineering and construction. There is a general trend towards it being increasingly demanded by site owners, particularly on international markets.
The implementation of BIM in the Teixeira Duarte Group’s construction sector began in 2016, and the group has a specialist central team that provides support to other Areas of Activity and Group Companies.
