Polo Operacional Teixeira Duarte at Montijo

On 1 April 2011, the new central yard "Polo Operacional Teixeira Duarte" was inaugurated in Montijo, which replaced the space until then occupied in Vale Figueira (since 1981/82).

This new infrastructure is installed in an area of over 130,000 m², which meets all the environmental and operational requirements in force, and has become an enormous additional value for the activity and services provided to customers, including areas for parking, metalworking, equipment work, storage and materials laboratory.

It should be remembered that Teixeira Duarte's first central yard was located at Quinta das Freiras, in Rego, Lisbon (since 1940), being replaced by the site in Santa Iria de Azóia from 1967, until it moved to Vale Figueira, in 1982.

To meet the challenges of international markets, shipyards have also been established in other countries such as Angola (in Viana), Mozambique (in Zimpeto) and Brazil (in Cumbica).

Third hotel unit inaugurated in Luanda

Also in 2011, the modern Hotel Baía was inaugurated, with 138 rooms, located in the south of Luanda, being the Group's third hotel unit in the city.

Start of the restructuring and growth of the Distribution business

Teixeira Duarte started a process of business restructuring and reorganisation of the teams working in the Distribution Sector.

The strong procurement and logistics structure developed over the years has allowed the optimisation of the operation, which, accompanied by the improvement of MAXI's points of sale and a strong commercial reinforcement, led the Group to take on new specific brands in food retail and to assume the distribution of Exclusive Products, through its 100% owned subsidiary "DCG - Distribuição e Comercio Geral, Lda".

At the same time, the group began its activity in Specialised Retail, and today it is present in the area of Furniture and Decoration under the brand DAKAZA, and in the area of Health and Well-being under the brand Farmácia Popular.
